For Fairness, She Let Me Die

Infected while protecting his team during a zombie clearing mission, Alex watches his girlfriend and captain, Chloe, hand the only antidote to Brandon, a team member who never left camp and shows no wounds. She calls it fairness, promising Alex another antidote within the three-day incubation period and leaving him only a useless suppressor. Alex has always been the one who charged while Chloe took the credit; without his powers, the camp's defenses are already weakening.

On the final morning, Alex finds Brandon in Chloe's bed. She dismisses his fury as paranoia and takes Brandon on the mission instead, telling Alex to wait at camp. As the team drives away, the infection surges through Alex, and something inside him awakens. This is the last chance he will give her.
