Chapter 4The Alpha’s Hidden Obsession

He kept a close watch on me lately.

As soon as I got home from school, he stopped me.

"Well? Haven't talked to them yet?"

I dodged his gaze, afraid to look him in the eye. "Um..."

"You like that omega a lot? Can't bear to do it?"

I couldn't answer. A brief silence.

Caleb seemed irritable. "Speak."

"No, Bro, can you just... give me a little more time?"

He frowned, loosened his tie, and threw his chopsticks onto the dinner plate with a harsh clatter.

The atmosphere became even more tense.

Just as anxiety peaked, his phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Haven't found the person yet?"

"The surveillance at The Sanctuary was broken?"

Hearing "The Sanctuary," my heart tightened instantly. That was the place where I crawled into my brother's bed.

I looked at him; his expression was terrible.

"What do you mean, 'what to do'? Keep looking! Turn the whole city upside down if you have to, but find that bastard!"

"When you find him, break his legs first."

"Just keep him barely alive and bring him to me."

My heart pounded like a drum.

I couldn't help but try to plead for myself.

"Bro, our family has been doing honest business for so many years."

"Even if someone provoked you, you shouldn't..."

He looked up at me, his gaze dark and complex. I actually thought my brother looked a little sad.

"You don't understand, Shawn."

"I thought it was..." He choked on his words.
