They Celebrated the Wrong Daughter

Daphne rides home from her graduation trip with her boyfriend Wesley Shaw and her foster sister Cassidy Richards, who take the window seats and leave her alone. When SAT scores arrive, Cassidy and Wesley celebrate their Westhaven University plans with both families, while Daphne is not even in the family group chat. Wesley remembers Cassidy's favorite watermelon juice but hands Daphne plain water, and the trip meant to be hers becomes a vacation for the two of them.

Since Cassidy came to live with Daphne's family, Daphne has been cast as the difficult one. Her parents praise Cassidy, Wesley apologizes only to Cassidy, and on the train platform he pulls Daphne's suitcase out of the elevator so Cassidy can ride instead. Left behind in the rain, Daphne calls home and learns her parents drove off without noticing she was missing.

Daphne scored higher than anyone expected, high enough for any program at Westhaven University. But she no longer wants to go anywhere with them, and she is done playing the supporting role in someone else's story.
