All for Nothing

Naomi gave up a place at a top-tier university in Ceres to stay behind and retake the entrance exams with Leo Cullen, her fiancé and childhood companion, because they had promised to attend the same university. One year became three, then four; she had already passed three times, yet she kept repeating the year and lying to her family about it, while Leo still could not get in.

When a girl named Betty Granger arrives at their cram school, Leo forgets their promise. He skips class, picks fights and smokes, and he and Betty mock Naomi relentlessly. After he yanks a clump of her hair from her scalp for a bet with Betty, Naomi overhears the truth and finally turns away from him, only to find his cruelty and the humiliation of their classmates following her.

Naomi must decide how much more of her life she is willing to spend on a boy who no longer cares.
