The Lazy Queen Reclaims Her Throne

For ten years, Betty has let her husband Harley and his mistress Camilla run Crestview Holdings, the debt-ridden boutique firm she inherited from her father. She stayed home, ignored the affair, and let the two overachievers build the company into a publicly traded empire worth over a hundred million dollars.

When Harley finally slides divorce papers and a ten-million-dollar check across a cafe table, expecting her to walk away, Betty only smiles. She knows something they have forgotten: from the day the company was incorporated, she has been its sole legal owner, with every share held in a trust bearing her name. Harley is merely her proxy; Camilla is a salaried employee.

Betty refuses to sign, announces she will attend the annual shareholder meeting as Chairman of the Board, and walks out. Then she makes a single call to Arthur Prescott, the corporate litigator she retained ten years ago, and gives the order to begin.
