Story

The story

After dropping out of school, Kelsey is reborn on August 28th, the day before she must submit the most important project of her life. In her past life, her boyfriend's childhood friend, Nicole Hicks, submitted identical code first, and Kelsey was branded a plagiarist. The online hate destroyed her family and drove her to jump from a high-rise.

Now, with her teammates and advisor counting on her, Kelsey finds her own code posted on Nicole's Instagram a full day before submission. Quitting would drag her whole team down, so she deletes her original design and rebuilds it from scratch in a different language and structure, creating something faster and fully her own.

But she remembers Nicole's tearful livestream, the bullying accusations, and the mob that came for everyone she loved. This time, Kelsey refuses to let history repeat itself.

Opening excerpt

But Nicole Hicks kept calling nonstop. She was my boyfriend's childhood friend who had established a reputation as a genius.

I was too busy helping out in the fields, growing vegetables, and splashing around in the creek, living my best carefree life. Writing code wasn't even on my mind.

In my past life, she had turned in a project just one day before I did. Her codes were exactly the same as mine.

Everyone called me a fraud and said I had stolen it.
