Story

The story

Forced by his ex-fiancée Jessica, who threatens to destroy his mother's urn, Alex agrees to marry a comatose woman, Rhea Hayes, so Jessica can leave with his uncle Victor. He registers the marriage, and the next day he becomes a billionaire while Rhea slowly begins to wake. The Hayes family, who took him in as a mere placeholder groom, come to accept him after he cares for Rhea and carries Mr. Hayes to the hospital during a heart attack. When Rhea wakes, she vows to protect her gentle husband, and their life together grows warm.

Then Jessica and Victor return, demanding the fortune and Rhea back, and even the Miller elders call Alex a beast and beat him. Dragged away by his father and stepmother Brenda, he is whipped and ordered to write down Rhea's preferences for Victor. Bound and gagged, he is driven toward the airport, until Rhea arrives armed, ready to defend the man she refuses to lose.

Opening excerpt

My ex-fiancée, Jessica, used my mother's last memento to force me to marry a comatose woman so she could run off with my uncle, Victor.

I agreed.

I let them go, wishing them a happy life abroad, while I married the comatose woman and got our marriage certificate.

What I never expected was that the day after we registered our marriage, I became a billionaire.

And my comatose wife slowly began to wake up.
