Story
The story
After her death, Rachel, the serial killer who once terrorized the country, is finally captured. Cunning beyond belief, she confesses to a new unsolved murder each year to delay her execution, and every confession proves chillingly true. In the eighth year, she makes her most shocking claim yet: Lucas, the fugitive brother everyone believes hired her and fled with the family fortune, is dead, and she killed him.
Lucas's spirit has been bound to those he loved since his death eight years ago. He watches his sister Abigail, the lead prosecutor, refuse to believe it, and Evelyn, the profiler and fiancée who branded him a monster, insist he is alive. Yet when Evelyn confronts Rachel, the killer's words about Lucas's final moments shake her resolve.
As Thomas, the adopted brother who married Evelyn, tears up the paper Rachel leaves behind, the truth about who hired the killer remains buried with the dead.
