My Daughter Turned Into My Son

Sophia Hollman is certain she has a daughter named Mia. Yet when she arrives at kindergarten, a boy runs into her arms, and her husband Jerry, the teachers and the other parents all insist the child is her son, Henry. Paternity tests confirm it. Photographs, her own home and every record show only Henry, a boy she once cherished. No trace of a daughter exists anywhere.

Sophia refuses to accept the life everyone describes. She rejects Henry's affection, reports a missing daughter to the police, and is eventually diagnosed with severe paranoia. Her parents take Henry away to protect him, while Jerry stays to care for her, and eighteen years pass.

On Henry's wedding day, Jerry leaves for the ceremony alone. Sitting by herself, Sophia is seized by a strange uneasiness and panic, and the Barbie doll hidden beneath the bed still waits to be found.
