Story
The story
On her wedding day, Carol learns that Jason, her fiancé of seven years, has given her wedding dress to Rebecca, his terminally ill childhood sweetheart, so she can wear it down the aisle in Carol's place. Locked inside the bridal suite, Carol hears the ceremony begin without her while her parents are held back by security guards and her engagement photos are altered to show Rebecca's face.
As Jason defends his choice, insisting that Rebecca is dying and that Carol is heartless for objecting, Carol sees the truth about the man she chose. She removes the ill-fitting dress, wipes away her makeup, and changes back into her own clothes, deciding that she has seen his true colors before signing any marriage certificate.
When Jason returns to promise he will make it up to her, Carol ends the engagement, tells him she will move out and sell the house, and walks away to her parents.

She said her only dying wish was to wear a wedding dress one last time.
To fulfill her request, Jason locked me in the bridal suite and prepared to marry her instead.
From behind the door, his irritated voice rang out:
“Can you stop being so heartless? She’s dying. What’s the harm in letting her have this moment?”
Later, the boy-next-door—who had been secretly in love with me for years—climbed up to the rooftop of the venue, threatening to jump unless I agreed to marry him.
