Spend It All Or Die Tonight

A woman wakes on the day a mysterious deposit first appeared in her bank account, remembering how it began: a single dollar, doubling every twenty-four hours, until the balance reached $32,768 by the fifteenth day. In her first life she spent the money freely, yet the bank insisted her balance was always zero, and at midnight her heart simply stopped. She now believes she died because she failed to spend every last cent.

Determined to survive, she spends each day's deposit down to nothing while searching for whoever is behind it. The bank and the police treat her as delusional, and the money leaves no trace. Her only lead is Beatrice Whitmore, a childhood friend turned European tech fortune, who refuses to see her.

Staking out Whitmore's office, she finally catches sight of her—and must decide whether the woman she once trusted is her salvation or the reason she died.
