Jackpot Reservoir: Big Fish, Bigger Disappearances

In a group chat called the Fishing Expedition Team, a night trip to a reservoir is arranged, with a 500-dollar entry fee and a promise of a catch of at least 100 pounds. Drew Ferrer, who cannot afford the fee, stays home and eats cheap tacos while the others post photos of huge fish and stacks of cash.

By morning, seven wives, led by Sandra Vlachos, storm Drew's tiny apartment with the police, accusing him of kidnapping their missing husbands. Drew shows the chat logs and his empty bank account, proving he had no part in it. He then reveals that the reservoir has been dry for 30 years, and that the men's photos show a saltwater tuna among poppies that cannot grow locally.

Drew explains the coded slang: night fishing meant underground casinos, and the big catch was a trap. The men were lured with two weeks of winnings before the slaughter night. When the police report blood and shell casings near the border, Sandra collapses, and the wives turn to Drew for answers.
