Chapter 4The Other Personality: A Tale of Two Cheaters

My brow furrowed. Just as I was about to open the door, I heard Arthur insulting and degrading me for another woman.

"How could she ever compare to you? She's fierce all day long, like an absolute harpy.

"I've been married to her for three years, and she hasn't even been able to give me a child. I've had enough of her for a long time."

I violently pushed the door open. Seeing the naked man and woman lying in the attached resting room, my eyes instantly turned red. My fingernails dug so hard into my palms that they bled, but it couldn't mask the agonizing pain in my heart.

Seeing me burst into the office, Arthur frantically scrambled to put his clothes back on.

He ran up to me, crying and trying to explain: "Wife, it's not what you think! I didn't cheat!"

My lips trembled slightly, and my breathing grew rapid.

"Arthur, I caught you red-handed, and you still won't admit you cheated?! How much longer are you going to play me for a fool?!

"Are you not going to be satisfied until everyone in the entire world knows?!"

I looked at Arthur, my heart completely dead.

But he grabbed a fruit knife off his desk, held it to his own neck, and pleaded with me.

"Wife, I didn't cheat! I did this because I have Dissociative Identity Disorder! It was my other personality that cheated!

"If I ever do anything to betray you again, I'll kill myself."

"And physical cheating doesn't count as real cheating! In my heart, there is only you. If you don't believe me, we can go to the hospital and check!"

Listening to Arthur's insane explanation, I suddenly remembered my own medical report.

I looked at the hickey on Arthur's neck, tears swimming in my eyes. I pointed at Chloe, who had finished dressing, and demanded: "Fire Chloe right now, and I'll believe you."

Arthur frowned, hesitated for a long time, and finally said: "Serena, if we fire her now, how is she supposed to find another job?

"I don't want our relationship problems to hurt someone else. Besides, I don't have any feelings for her. You are the one I love."

Hearing Arthur desperately defend Chloe, the tears I had been fighting back finally fell.

"So, your other personality cheating... means you didn't actually cheat. Is that it?"

Before Arthur could explain, Chloe chimed in, smiling as she defended him.

"Mrs. Vance, you're a good person. The doctor said Mr. Vance's second personality is a complete, separate human being. Naturally, he has normal physiological needs.

"Please, please don't misunderstand my relationship with Mr. Vance."

I took a deep breath, my voice shaking with absolute fury.

"Arthur, is this really what you think?"

Under my intense stare, Arthur slowly nodded.

My entire body trembled, and my head pounded with a splitting migraine.

Seeing my distress, Arthur was just about to reach out to support me when he saw Chloe collapse to the floor nearby. She looked at him weakly: "Mr. Vance, I feel so sick."

Arthur boldly picked Chloe up right in front of everyone in the company and rushed her to the hospital.

I lay weak and helpless on the floor, watching Arthur's retreating back, entirely powerless.

Right before I passed out, I saw the face of a strange man.

When I woke up, I was lying in a bed in the company clinic.
