Don't Cry, My Darling

Six years ago, Julie divorced Ansel Wright when his business failed and debtors hounded them, leaving him for a rich man while he wept and begged her to stay. Now Ansel has returned to Wall Street as a celebrated finance giant, engaged to Anne Nelson, and he brings her to the city to show her off. But Julie cannot be found.

She is dead. Her soul lingers, drawn to the Lovean Sea house where they once lived, its gardens still full of the pink roses she loved. There she watches Ansel carry a drunken Anne inside, and hears him tell the world that his ex-wife aborted their child and abandoned him, while strangers curse her as cold-blooded and praise Anne's devotion.

Unable to look away, Julie can only watch the life that might have been hers, and the hatred in the eyes of the man she still loves.
