Story
The story
After giving birth to her son, Alex Fox expects her mother to help care for the baby as promised. Instead, her parents leave for a trip, and she discovers her cousin Vivian James has posted videos of her mother caring for Vivian's newborn. When Alex calls, her mother coldly insists she is not a nanny, and her father warns that upsetting her mother will only delay their return.
Alex learns her parents are staying with Vivian, who claims postpartum depression, while a nanny cares for Vivian's baby. Alex's calls are treated as a nuisance, and her parents dismiss her hurt. Vivian posts again, showing Alex's mother rocking the baby and her father bringing imported cherries, calling herself the family's little princess.
Alex asks to join the trip, but her mother refuses, and the photos she sends deepen the lie. Alex is left alone with her newborn, wondering why she has become a stranger to her own parents.
Opening excerpt
"A neighbor I've only met twice just had a baby and insists I help take care of it, but my daughter also gave birth these past few days, and I really don't know how to refuse. Asking netizens for help."
The comments were all over the place, but the author only replied to one.
"Simple—just tell her you two are getting up there in age, and now that you're retired, you're planning to travel. Then go stay at your daughter's place. If the neighbor can't find you, there's nothing she can do. Wait until her kid's older, then move back."
