Story
The story
Cassidy Preston was her father's only child, so eighteen years ago he adopted a poor boy, Victor Sterling, raising him as his heir to one day protect the family auction house. When her father died suddenly, Cassidy fell ill and spent a year recovering abroad. She returns to Starhaven City to find Victor running the auction house, her father's treasured collections sold off cheaply to overseas dealers, and Chloe at Victor's side mocking her.
Victor denies everything, claiming Cassidy squandered the collections herself and turned the city against her. He produces a custody agreement bearing her signature and fingerprint that she never signed, and when she lunges for her father's appraisal log, Chloe tears it in two and collapses, crying that Cassidy pushed her. Victor vows Cassidy will not even manage a meal in Starhaven City.
With her father's legacy in ruins and the city believing Victor's lies, Cassidy swears she will make him repay every cent, twice over.
