Story
The story

Now she works quietly, enduring their contempt, while the red corn boils in the kitchen.
Jeremy and Amanda scheme to marry Lisa off to Ethan, a lecherous gambler, so they can claim a house for Zed. Lisa agrees with a hidden smile, silently planning to move into the small apartment she has secretly bought near the hospital. When Zed falls ill from the corn, Linda blames chicken instead, and Lisa says nothing.
