Story

The story

One morning, Scarlett finds an abandoned baby by the roadside and is about to take him home when she hears his inner thoughts. The infant is plotting: his father deliberately left him where Scarlett would find him, so she would adopt him and he could legally join the Lumley family, then help his father ruin her and reunite with his real mother.

Scarlett tells her husband, Raymond Lowes, nothing. When he comes home with formula and diapers, insisting she adopt the baby, she calmly denies ever finding one. He searches the house in a panic, then rushes off to look for the child himself.

The next day, Raymond calls: the baby's mother has appeared and threatens to involve the police. At the neighborhood entrance, a middle-aged woman accuses Scarlett of taking her child, and onlookers side with her. Scarlett stays composed, certain the woman is only a decoy shielding the real mother.

I was about to pick the baby up and take him home when I heard the baby’s inner thoughts.

The baby thought, ‘Dad’s plan is genius. He dumped me right where Scarlett would find me on purpose. That way, she’ll take me in and adopt me. Then, I’ll legally become part of the Lumley family without any issues.

‘Back then, Scarlett used her rich family background to ruin my parents’ relationship on purpose. Now she’s stuck raising me, Dad’s illegitimate child.
