Story
The story
After her parents and brother die serving their country, a young woman and her sister have only each other. Frederick promises to marry the sister and care for her forever, but he cheats on her for three years. His mistress, Ramona, brings men to beat the sister until her spleen ruptures; she lies dying in the ICU. Frederick signs a letter of understanding for Ramona and pays only 4,000 dollars, which Ramona throws in the sister's face, boasting that her shoes cost more than the sister's life.
The narrator vows to sue, but the Women's Federation and the police refuse to act, calling it a family dispute. Ramona's parents are wealthy businessmen and her brother is a prosecutor. When the narrator keeps fighting, Ramona and Frederick beat her in the ward, and Ramona tramples the red book of medals left by her parents and brother. Then the narrator is knocked unconscious and dragged into a van, waking in an abandoned factory.
