He Sent Me Her Moans

On their wedding anniversary, a wife sends her sexually indifferent husband a selfie in lingerie. His reply is a sixty-second voice message: another woman's moans, and a taunt about sharing him. She drives to the lab and finds Ethan holding that woman, Chloe — the same Chloe who killed his parents and once drove him to madness.

At home he tends her cut cheek while his neck is covered in marks, then begs her not to make trouble for Chloe. His phone shows a pinned chat with Chloe, instant replies, and his verdict on his wife: she is old, and he is bored with her. He forgives his parents' killer and rushes out when Chloe calls about her thesis data, shoving his wife aside and calling her useless.

Alone, she forces down the lunch she had made for him, then retches. The doorbell rings: Ethan's supervisor says he is at City General Hospital.
