Story

The story

At eighteen, Maya Hayes watched her sister Serena flirt with Carter Vance. At twenty-two, under family pressure, Carter married Maya instead, after Serena fled abroad on the eve of their wedding. For three years they lived as a normal couple, yet everyone knew Carter never let go of Serena. When Maya found his study wall covered in pre-wedding photos of him and Serena, she decided to divorce. He signed, gave her half his assets, and her parents blamed her for it.

Three years later, Maya returns for Carter and Serena's wedding. Serena, her ballet career shattered by an accident, is marrying the man everyone says was always hers. Rumors still call Maya the sister who stole a marriage, and her own mother warns her to stay away. When Carter offers her a ride, Maya refuses.

Now the wedding approaches, and the man she divorced is watching her every move.

When I was 18, I caught my sister lifting Carter’s shirt, her hands trailing over his abs.
