Her Patient Confessed His Love in their Secret Therapy Sessions

For five years, Dr. Michelle Burnell has served as the private psychologist and live-in assistant to Stuart Huggett, the man whose photograph reminded her of a stranger who once shielded her from the rain. She stayed through his self-destruction, his cruelty, and his refusal to see her as anything but a paid spy. Now his contract with her has half a month left, and Stuart is set to marry Janet Brewsters, his first love who betrayed him years ago.

Janet treats Michelle like a servant, and Stuart allows it, even blaming Michelle when Janet deliberately scalds her hand with hot coffee. Watching him shield Janet with such tenderness, Michelle finally says the words she has held back for years: she quits. But Stuart's assistant makes clear she cannot simply walk away, and Michelle is forced to follow the couple on their business trip.

With the wedding two weeks away and her arm still burning, Michelle must decide how much of herself she is willing to lose before she can finally escape.
