His Hundred Rings for My Bestie

For eight years, Isabel has shared her life with Adrian, a brilliant rising jewelry designer. Yet he has never made a single ring for her, insisting his art must be perfect before it leaves his studio. Her best friend Linda, meanwhile, complains about a jewelry box overflowing with custom rings from a devoted admirer.

When one of Linda's rings rolls onto the table, Isabel recognizes it instantly: the exact design she once begged Adrian to create for her. Days later, she returns to Linda's building and sees Adrian let himself in with his own key. Through the door she hears Linda's anxious voice and Adrian's steady reassurance, and the tenderness with which he says her name.

Back in the apartment they share, Isabel opens Adrian's locked studio and finds an encrypted folder holding hundreds of designs, each dated to a milestone in his secret life with Linda, down to an unfinished wedding ring. She dials her supervisor and accepts a transfer to the Geneva office.
