Story

The story

On her wedding morning, Meredith finds her maid of honor, Sienna, stumbling out of a hotel room with her fiancé, Preston. Rather than scream, Meredith calmly hands them the ceremony, the venue and the groom. Her parents are horrified, but Meredith has a reason: the antique silver cross her grandmother Nana left her has shattered against her chest. Nana, a Seer, warned that if the cross ever broke, it had taken a death blow for her, and that a Calamity was coming.

As Preston and Sienna bask in their stolen life, Meredith's family flees the state in silence. Sienna flaunts the diamond, the money and the scandal online, mocking the woman she betrayed. Meredith endures the insults until her parents are targeted, then answers from a hidden account.

Sienna believes she has won everything. She does not know what she has actually taken.

Opening excerpt

I asked my best friend to try on her bridesmaid dress. Instead, she walked out wearing my bridal gown.

That should have been the first red flag.

On the morning of the wedding, the final flag was waved. Sienna and my fiancé, Preston, stumbled out of the same hotel room together, clothes disheveled, hair a mess.
