The Mind-Reading Crush

During finals week in the library, a college girl cannot stop her inner monologue about her aloof crush, Paxton, the eldest son of the Pei family, whose family donated five lab buildings to the school. She has no idea that he can hear every thought she thinks.

When Paxton suddenly slams his book and tells the room to be quiet, she assumes she made a sound and tries to leave, but he stops her, apologising and claiming stress is making him hallucinate. As her thoughts grow bolder, his reactions grow stranger: he bundles up in a windbreaker, then strips it off and unbuttons his shirt, and finally drops his pen at her feet.

After she returns it, he hands her a black-gold key card for a five-star hotel near campus and offers to help her relieve some stress. The library closes two hours early, and she follows the room number to a presidential suite, where the door opens before she can swipe the card.
