Story

The story

In her last life, Hilary Swanson let Katherine Harding stay at the Swanson home, and the next morning Katherine accused Hilary's brother Homer of forcing himself on her. Homer had no way to defend himself and had to marry her; his first love left him, he drank, and he died young. Hilary married Roland Simmons, who blamed her for Katherine's ruin, never touched her, and slowly poisoned her until she died in agony.

Now Hilary has woken back at the moment Katherine asks to stay. She refuses, but when a neighbor offers Katherine a room in the same courtyard, Hilary realizes the accusation can still happen, so she takes Katherine in herself. Roland, reborn as well, bursts in, slaps Hilary, and insists on staying too, guarding Katherine's door all night.

The next morning a scream rings out, and Katherine again accuses Homer, with Roland raging for him. This time Hilary stands her ground and demands proof.
