Marry My Sister

Skylar Quinn has spent nine years as Carter Delaney's secretary, leaving her hometown of Austin, Texas for him. They have been engaged nine times, and each time Brielle Stokes, the friend Carter treats like a sister, gets in the way. On the day of their ninth engagement, Carter ditches Skylar at the venue to celebrate his twentieth friendship anniversary with Brielle. Skylar does not cry or make a scene. She calmly likes the post, tosses the ring into a trash can, and vanishes from his life.

Carter tracks her down at a hotel by Santa Monica Pier. He insists Brielle is just a friend and promises a bigger wedding, with Brielle as maid of honor. Skylar agrees without a fight, but she no longer argues or apologizes. She sits in the backseat while Brielle takes the front, watches them share drinks and shrimp, and says nothing. When Brielle has an allergic reaction, Carter leaves Skylar on a dimly lit street to take Brielle to the hospital. Two strangers emerge from the shadows and close in on her.
