Actually, the name Buddy and I have a long history.

The day I dropped Ethan off at the airport, I was actually quite sad, but I couldn't cry.

It might be hard to imagine.

But when a little white marshmallow of a boy is in front of you, snot running down his face, throwing a tantrum, you can't help but stifle a laugh.

He was bossy even at that young age, sobbing as he waved goodbye:

"I'm Sister's only Buddy, right?"

I stroked his head and affirmed repeatedly, "Yes, yes, yes."

But he didn't know I was a people-pleaser.

After seven, eight, nine, ten dinners, Ethan finally started acting like Mrs. Lee and Mr. Perry's son!

Well, not entirely.

Today, I was shopping with him at the supermarket.

The lady on the first floor recognized me. "Isn't that Hannah?"

Seeing Ethan next to me, she was both surprised and delighted, her eyes sparkling with gossip.

"Your boyfriend?"

Without waiting for me to confirm or deny, the lady immediately started gushing. "No wonder I haven't seen you dating anyone! You were waiting for this tall, handsome young man. Our Hannah has good taste!"

I looked at the man next to me, who acted completely indifferent, and sighed loudly.

Trust a man, and the sun rises in the west.

I quickly waved my hands. "Auntie, he's not my boyfriend. He's Mr. Perry's son."

"The real, biological son."

Ethan was slightly nudged by my words and slowly confirmed with an "Mmm."

But the lady was thrilled, grabbing both of our hands. "That's even better!"

"Making it a family affair!"

What on earth is she talking about!?

She even stacked our hands together.

I chuckled awkwardly. "Auntie, the discount section is starting soon. Aren't you going to check it out?"

Auntie looked reluctant but bolted away.

Our hands were still stacked together.

I quietly pulled my hand away.

A moment later, he said abruptly, "Thank you."

I was completely confused.

I simply replied, "You're welcome."

Later, as he was grabbing some groceries, his hand, resting on the shopping cart, accidentally touched mine.

I tried to pull my hand away, but this kid had the strength of an ox. I couldn't get it back no matter how hard I tried.

Finally, I 'casually' stepped on his foot.

Only then did he casually notice, saying sarcastically, "Oh, was your hand down there the whole time? It's small, cold, and hard. I didn't notice."

I didn't notice~

Ugh.

So.

I stepped on his foot again.
