Story
The story
It is New Year's Eve, and Emma is driving back from her in-laws' with her husband Jack when his ex-girlfriend Chloe invites herself along. Chloe takes Emma's front seat, claiming she gets carsick, and Jack and his parents dismiss Emma's objection as petty.
At a toll station, Chloe spots a stray dog she names Blackie and insists on bringing it along. When Emma points out the car is already full and over capacity, Jack turns on her, telling her to give up her seat for the dog and take a cab home alone in the cold. His parents, worried only about dinner, remind her to buy vegetables on the way.
As Jack drives off with Chloe and the dog, Emma is left at the roadside, realizing her husband's care is reserved for everyone but her.

She brazenly took my seat in the front, saying, "Emma, I get carsick easily. I can only sit in the front."
Jack looked at me with disdain. "It's just a seat. Why are you being so petty?"
His parents chimed in, "You're older, what's the harm in letting Chloe have the front seat?"
Unable to argue, I squeezed into the back with my in-laws.
