Story

The story

Every year on her birthday, Iris Ballmer is taken to a blood donation room and made to give 400cc of blood, because her mother once told her the blood in her veins belongs to a rapist. At eighteen, weighing less than 80 pounds, she donates once more, only to be handed a legal notice cutting all ties with her. Her mother, Cassandra, screams that Iris's eyes are exactly like the monster's, and her sister Alice calls her an ineradicable stain.

Iris learns the truth: before she was born, her mother was attacked the night before her wedding, and a doctor said one of the twins was most likely the rapist's child. Her father, George Ballmer, tries to calm the chaos, but Cassandra drives a used lancet into Iris's hand and forces her bloodied fingerprint onto the disownment notice before collapsing.

Sedated and ignored, Iris hides in the storage room. When Alice corners her in the kitchen with a fruit knife, the night erupts in blood and screams.
