On the day Adeline gave birth to my husband's child, my in-laws hired ten bodyguards to stand guard outside the delivery room to prevent any disruption from my side.

But I never showed up, not even after the delivery was over.

My mother-in-law held Adeline's hand and reassured her, "Adeline, as long as we are here, Olivia won't be able to harm you or the baby!"

My husband was by Adeline's side during the delivery, wiping her sweat tenderly. "Don't worry. Dad has people at the hospital entrance. If Olivia tries anything, we'll have her removed!"

After not seeing me, he finally relaxed. He couldn't understand why I would cause a fuss when he was just trying to fulfill Adeline's last wish of becoming a mother.

Watching the nurse cradle the newborn, he smiled contentedly, thinking that if I came to apologize the next day, he would forgive everything and even let me be the child's mother.

What he didn't know was that I had just submitted a report to the United Nations. In a week, I would renounce my citizenship and become a doctor with Doctors Without Borders, never to see him again.
