Erasing the Substitute: A Script Unwritten

For eight years, a wife has lived inside an angsty romance novel, bound by a System that demanded she follow its plot to the very end. Her reward for enduring the role of the tragically abused female lead was points to wake her real husband and daughter from their comas. Now the System declares the plot finished, and she hurries home to celebrate with Arthur and their son Leo.

Outside the nursery, she overhears Leo ask whether they still must pretend for Mommy, and whether Auntie Chloe can finally be with them for real. Arthur agrees to divorce her, and Leo cheers. When she confronts them, Arthur promises a lawyer and compensation, while Leo says he does not want a mother like her. Then the System warns that the plot's conclusion is abnormal and that she has seven days to repair it.

She abandons the repair, choosing to wait out the failure and be extracted. Arthur files for divorce at once, and as she leaves the Sterling mansion, Leo hurls a block at her and tells her to disappear. At the curb, a red sports car brakes beside her.
