Story

The story

On her wedding day, Isla suddenly gains the ability to hear other people's thoughts. As Daniel Thorne slides the ring onto her finger, his mind reveals a chilling truth: he married her not for love, but to trap her stepfather, Lyle Whitman, in a scheme of revenge. The wedding was arranged in three days by Lyle, who used Isla as a bargaining chip to save his failing company.

Trapped in a five-story mansion with no one else around, Isla must hide what she now knows. She plays the part of a frightened, helpless bride while Daniel watches her every move, his thoughts cold and calculating. He intends to keep her confined, and she resolves to outwit him at his own game.

A quiet battle of wits begins between a husband who sees his wife as a pawn and a wife who can hear every cruel thought behind his gentle smile.

Opening excerpt

On my wedding day, I suddenly developed the ability to read minds.

I was listening to my husband’s heart as he smiled, gently taking my hand to place the ring on my finger.

Lyle Whitman sends over this sacrificial lamb and thinks he can just walk away with the Sterling project? He’s dreaming.

My head snapped up, my eyes wide with shock.
