Story
The story
Lily has spent three years caring for her ailing mother-in-law, having quit her job and sold her wedding jewelry to cover the woman's medical bills. Her husband Devin, once attentive, has grown distant, and his mother believes her son funds the household. Then, during a rare dinner with her friend Catherine, Lily spots a man lovingly feeding another woman across the room—and recognizes him as Devin.
Humiliated and furious, Lily rushes home and resolves to reclaim what she sacrificed. When her mother-in-law demands an expensive seafood dinner, Lily coolly reveals she has no money and calls Devin on speaker, exposing that his salary is meant for a new house while her family's support has been cut off. The old woman, her pride wounded, turns on her own son.
That night Devin returns early from his supposed business trip with a cheap silver bracelet and a smooth apology, hoping Lily will keep funding their life. Playing along, she warns him about a "vixen" stealing him away, then waits until he is asleep, takes his phone, and unlocks it with his thumb.

I was out to dinner with a friend when I saw them: a young couple, obviously head-over-heels in love. As the man meticulously peeled a shrimp for his girlfriend, I couldn't help but sigh. "I wish my husband still did that for me."
Then he turned his head.
Holy crap… it was my husband.
It was rare for me to get a night out, a chance to just catch up with my friend, Catherine. The moment we walked into the restaurant, we were hit with a blast of sickeningly sweet affection from a couple at a nearby table.
