I Earn Mom's Love, It's Free for My Brother

Beulah has always been the daughter who pays. When her mother suffers a cerebral hemorrhage after a Thanksgiving blowup, Beulah covers the hospital bills and keeps vigil alone, while her brother Buck and his wife Ethel never visit. Yet her mother orders her to hand over the refunded medical money to Ethel, then to round it up to twenty thousand, and her brother calls her stingy for hesitating.

When Beulah refuses and walks away, her mother fakes a faint and lectures her in the family group chat. Then her mother learns of Beulah's divorce, which Beulah had hidden because of her mother's illness, and demands she beg her cheating ex-husband to take her back, enraged that the divorce will cost Ethel a promised job. Beulah finally accuses her mother of sacrificing her daughter's happiness for her son's family.
