Everyone Begged For My Forgiveness

Eighteen years ago, a hospital swapped two embryos during IVF. Rowan Hawthorn grew up cherished in both families, while Ronan Cooper became the unwanted burden shuffled between them. Wherever Rowan stayed, the house was stocked with snacks and a sunlit room; wherever Ronan stayed, there was little food and a dark storage room.

Now Ronan is diagnosed with uremia, and Rowan is an exact match. Eugene and Rowena Cooper shove a refusal-of-treatment form at him, and Frank and Ronnie Hawthorn beg him to let Rowan keep his kidney. Then the hospital calls: the records were mixed up again, and the one with uremia is actually Rowan Hawthorn.

Ronan sells the old house his grandfather left him, buys a camera, and leaves to wander wherever the wind takes him.
