The Broken Swan's Redemption

At eighteen, Chloe pushed Ethan out of the path of a speeding car and lost both her legs beneath the tires. A dancer who had trained her whole life, she woke to empty sheets and a ruined future. Ethan knelt at her bedside and vowed to be her legs forever, and on her twentieth birthday he proposed. Everyone called him a saint for staying by her side.

Then Mia appeared, dancing a choreography Chloe had once created, her long, flawless legs moving like a dream. Chloe heard Ethan murmur that Mia's legs were beautiful, that Chloe's made him terrified and disgusted, that he had nightmares about them every night. When he found her crying in her wheelchair, he offered his scarred arm and told her to punish him, just as he always had.

Chloe pushes him away, straps on the prosthetic legs she has always hated, and drags herself up off the floor alone. Something between them has begun to slip out of his control.
