Story
The story
Holly wins ten million in the lottery, and her best friend Maeve warns her to hide the money from her family, insisting that stepmothers bring stepfathers and that her father would spend it all on her half-brother. Holly believes her, as she always has since middle school, when Maeve was the only one who showed her kindness and then slowly took everything she had.
In her last life, that trust killed her. Maeve tampered with her medical records, delayed her treatment, locked her in a rented apartment and transferred her money away while she died in agony. Now Holly has been reborn on the very day she won, and when Maeve calls demanding the amount, Holly lies and says she won only two hundred dollars.
She calls the father she was estranged from for years, then faces Maeve's insistence that she hand over the winnings. This time Holly is not the naive girl she was, and she intends to tear apart the fake friend who destroyed her family and her life.
