Story

The story

After a fight with Holden Crawford over texts from his ex-girlfriend Stella Montgomery, Harper Quinn storms out and is murdered by a stranger at the downtown mall. She returns as a ghost, bound to the man who took her for granted.

At the morgue, Holden identifies her by the wild-rose tattoo bearing his initials, then handles her affairs with chilling calm. Seven days later, grief finally breaks him, and Harper watches, savoring his agony with a twisted, liberating joy.

As Holden packs for a business trip with Stella, Harper lingers, unseen, certain he never truly loved her.

Opening excerpt

Except, in my story, there was no "crawling back." Only the ashes.

Because I was truly dead.

I became a ghost, tethered to the man who took me for granted. Seven days after my death, it was as if a delayed wave of grief had finally crushed him. In the home I could never return to, he howled, wept, and shattered into pieces.

You ask how I felt?
