Story

The story

A director at her company discovers she is the villain of a CEO romance novel when a stream of hostile comments appears before her eyes. The novel's heroine is Lynn Spencer, a young intern who has been dating the CEO online for three months using the director's photos, and who now plans double eyelid surgery to resemble her before the CEO returns to meet her in person. In the book's plot, the director is fated to be fired, blacklisted and killed.

Determined to rewrite that destiny, the director denies Lynn's leave and sends her on a two-week business trip to Atlanta instead. When Lynn refuses and threatens to skip work for the surgery, the director posts in the team chat that Lynn Spencer is having double eyelid plastic surgery, then offers the trip to anyone else. Lynn begs her to retract the message and agrees to go.

Yet the comments keep condemning the director as the evil antagonist, and the CEO's assistant may read the chat.

Opening excerpt

A new intern had been using my photos to date the CEO online for three months. Suddenly, a stream of comments popped up before my eyes:

[Oh no, what now? The CEO is coming back next week to meet the protagonist in person, but the protagonist has been dating him using the antagonist’s photos!]
