The Whims of Fortune

After her parents' divorce, Ursula Langley follows her father, Michael, to a grand mansion on Empyrean Street, home to his wealthy new partner, Zoey Howard, and her son, Scott. In her previous life, Ursula left with her mother, Jessica, and suffered poverty and betrayal at the hands of her sister, Fiona. Now she has returned to the day of the divorce, and Fiona, who has also regressed, chooses their mother instead.

In the Howard household, Ursula is treated as an unwanted ornament. Michael mocks her achievements, while Zoey regards her with disdain. Only Scott, cold and unreadable, occasionally attends her parent-teacher meetings and asks about her future. Ursula knows that studying is her only escape from the wretched existence she once endured.

As graduation approaches, Scott asks whether she plans to study abroad, but Michael dismisses the idea. Ursula must decide how far she is willing to go to secure a different fate.
