After His Daughter Died, The Whole Family Hated Him

During a road trip, a husband abandons his wife Cynthia and their five-year-old daughter Amelia on the highway to rush to his childhood sweetheart Janet, who merely has a cold. A landslide strikes; Amelia dies on the spot, and Cynthia wakes from a coma to see Janet's affectionate post online. At Amelia's burial, his reply finally comes: don't make a fuss over such a trivial matter.

Cynthia sends Matthew Evans one last message, asking for a divorce, then blocks him. After seventeen years of loving him cautiously, she buries her daughter alone and packs to leave. But Matthew and Janet walk in together, and he coldly blames her for the divorce and for running away.

When he calls for Amelia and sees her portrait, he turns on Cynthia, accusing her of killing their daughter out of jealousy. Janet echoes the charge. He slaps her to the ground, and she can no longer speak.
