Gone with the Broken Wind

Alex cheated with a subordinate twelve years his junior, Lily. When Stella found out, he chose to come back to his family. After his return he became the picture of obedience, taking over night feedings for their newborn daughter Penny while building a new company. It seemed he had faced no real consequences at all.

Then one night Stella sees an unsigned text on his phone: Lily is getting married tomorrow and asks him to come to Port Crest one last time. Stella watches him pack a suitcase, and the calm he wears as he unpacks it again feels like a mask. She has kept the five hundred and twenty-one love letters he wrote Lily over two years, and the silk panties Lily sent in reply.

When she reads the letters aloud, Alex's composure cracks. He calls it one mistake, asks why she cannot let it go, and tells her she can never compare to Lily. Stella tells him to divorce her and marry Lily instead. Penny's cries fill the room, and Alex leaves the bedroom.
