He Broke Our Wedding for His Student ,Now He's Begging Me Back

On her wedding day, Maud watches police take her fiancé, Benjamin Delgado, away. He has confessed to assaulting his student, Elise Simmons, to spare her from being forced to marry the man who hurt her. He asks Maud to wait three years, handle the university and the rumors, and accept a sham marriage to Elise. Maud walks away without a word.

She pulls her investment from his research and shuts down his lab, then returns home to burn every trace of him. The hotel tells her the wedding is merely postponed, with Elise's name replacing hers on the banners, and that Benjamin took the bracelet her late mother left her as a bride gift for Elise. He then asks Maud to attend as Elise's bridesmaid and claim she cheated.

At Elise's door, Benjamin stands in an apron, healed of the kitchen scars Maud once protected. When Maud questions whether the two were already together, he slaps her before the gathered neighbors.
