Trusting the Wrong Genius

For two years, Summer tutored her entire class for free, staying late and paying for materials herself, and their grades rose from the bottom to the upper-middle range. Then Selene Chevalier, a transfer student from Enasteri High School with near-perfect marks, publicly calls Summer's tutoring useless and offers to teach the class instead. One by one, the classmates drift away from Summer's study group, and the class president hands the group over to Selene, asking Summer to brief her on everyone's academic situation.

Summer steps back without a fight, relieved to be free of the late nights and the cost. But Selene soon messages her demanding the study materials and the print shop she used, then balks at how much work and money they involve. Summer had always paid for everything herself, and she knows exactly what her carefully built problem sets are worth.
