Suddenly, I heard a woman's coquettish voice on the other end. It was Chloe.

"Adrian, how about we set our wedding for the 18th of this month? We should invite Olivia too. Even though she doesn't like me, she did take care of you for five years..."

My chest tightened painfully. I was about to hang up when Adrian spoke again, his tone dripping with contempt: "Did you hear that? Chloe is so kind-hearted. In 10 days, I'll send someone to bring you back for our wedding."

The call ended.

My eyes grew cold as I deleted everything related to Adrian, including throwing away the card he'd given me.

Adrian was in the middle of flirting with Chloe when he suddenly got a phone call.

After hanging up, his expression turned grave. Chloe tried to snuggle up to him but he gently pushed her away.

"Olivia wasn't picked up by those men. I need to go check what happened. You stay here for now."

With that, Adrian left, ignoring whatever expression Chloe wore.

Behind him, a vicious glint flashed in Chloe's eyes.

When Adrian returned home, he felt like something was different about the house.

But he couldn't put his finger on what exactly had changed.

The doorbell rang. Adrian went to answer, automatically assuming it was me coming back to hide. "Olivia, you have the nerve to come crawling back? Who do you think..."

He opened the door to find not me, but a delivery man in uniform. The man said professionally, "Mr. Foster, this is a package Ms. Sullivan mailed to you. Please sign for it."
