Story

The story

Chloe White stood by Liam Xander when he was mocked as the illegitimate son of the Xander family, pouring her family's resources into his climb. Now he runs Xander Enterprises, the most powerful man in Seabridge City, and at a gala she overhears him call her washed-up and past her prime, fit at best to be a mistress.

When the Xander patriarch lies dying, Liam begs Chloe to carry a document overseas, trusting only her. She returns after three months to find him celebrating his takeover beside Luna James, heir to the James family, a 16-carat ring on her hand: it is their engagement party. He sent Chloe away to cut her loose.

Chloe remembers how they met, when she saved him from thugs in an alley, and knows she never had a choice.
