Story
The story
Ashley endures cruelty on every side. At school, Maya Summers slaps her for failing to pass answers during a test, and Maya's sidekick Rainie threatens her while classmates mock her. At home, her mother beats her with a metal hanger over money her brother stole, then takes her savings. Her mother drilled one rule into her: keep her head down and never cause trouble. Maya's family is rich, and her uncle is the school's vice principal, so Ashley swallows every humiliation.
After a sleepless night finishing both her homework and Maya's, Ashley arrives late with Maya's worksheets unfinished. Maya slaps her, drags her by the hair, and hits her again as boys cheer. Rainie rips Ashley's homework to shreds. Something finally ignites in Ashley, and she shoves Maya away.
Then Rainie rushes to Ashley's side, calling her Maya. Ashley looks down at smooth, unblemished hands, and at Maya wearing her clothes and her face. Somehow, the two have swapped bodies.
Opening excerpt
By some strange twist of fate, I swapped bodies with the person who bullied me.
I became the adored heiress of the Summers family, while she was stuck as the older sister in a family that drained her dry.
Later, when she was slapped across the face and left crying on her knees, she begged me to switch back.
SMACK!
The moment I stepped into the classroom, a slap sent me stumbling backward.
“How dare you even show your face here?”
Maya Summers stood in the doorway, hands on her hips, glaring at me with pure disdain.
“Why didn’t you pass me the answers during yesterday’s test?”
