After I Came Home

Three years after being exiled abroad, Aurora Song returns home to a city that still blames her for pushing Victoria Prescott down the stairs. Her phone fills with threats, and her parents watch her every move, terrified she will disrupt the coming engagement of Donovan Blackwood and Victoria Prescott.

But Aurora no longer clings to Donovan. When he visits her family home, she greets him with cold formality and returns the Blackwood family jade bracelet his grandmother once gave her. Then a piece of news shatters her world, and she begins desperately asking for someone named Mike, begging him not to be dead.

Donovan pushes through the crowd to hold her, his hands trembling as he asks who Mike is. Aurora has been home less than an hour, and the old Aurora is already gone.
