Story
The story
Claire's parents have never taken a real vacation, so when her brother-in-law Liam, who runs Horizon Travel, gifts them an all-expenses-paid world cruise, it seems like a dream come true. But then her father breaks his leg, and the trip is postponed. Claire's husband, Craig, claims he canceled it because the hospital bills were piling up.
Weeks later, the travel agency calls: her parents are demanding a refund and have assaulted an employee. But they never left. At the agency, Claire learns another couple boarded under her parents' names, and the departure video shows Craig himself waving them off. The other daughter is Vanessa, Craig's so-called best friend, who insists Craig is her husband.
When Craig arrives, he slaps Claire and slams her head against the wall, defending Vanessa instead of the wife who stood by him for years. Claire vows to destroy him.
Opening excerpt
The call from the travel agency came out of nowhere. They said my parents were raising hell after their round-the-world cruise, demanding a refund and even assaulting an employee. They wanted to know what I was going to do about it.
But that was impossible. At that very moment, my mother was helping my father hobble out of his hospital room, asking me if the discharge papers were ready.
